A Return To The Lines – An Update and The Future Of The Blog
Yo Warriors,
I’m back to the grind.
Training, working and living again.
And back to here too.
This is a do-over for the LARP-Fit page.
So, here we go!
Back To Training
Back to the method that I know works.
In the recent past (I’m talking months) I lost sight of training due to crappy circumstances but, about a month ago, I decided to get back to trying to get back on track.
And I think I’ve been managing it.
Heres the picture of my past months strength training:

Looks messy but it makes sense to me.
The quick analysis of it is the following:
– For the recording of my sets, its recoded as “resistance level / reps achieved in the first set”.
– There are some exercises there that I under estimated the resistance level, like the front raises, that I maxed out the timer but I’d never done them before so always best to play safe.
– I’m probably going to swap the neck bridge from Session B with the Good Mornings from Session C – this makes C even more pure gymnastics.
– I ended up sliding my routine by 1 day after 04/09 so I should’ve done B on 08/09 but couldn’t get to my weights. I think this has bled over to my session on 11/09 as I was feeling particularly sluggish – and doing music work throughout both nights between probably has done me no favours either!
I have been doing some locomotion training and skills training on the days between too but theres no record of it.
There hasn’t been much in the way of fight training either right now, but I’ve not been hitting any events this year so I’m not too fussed right now.
And I need to sort out an area where I can swing some weapons about – that sounds like a future me problem to solve!
Nutrition
Getting back to nutrition, I’ve decided to entrust myself to MyFitnessPal and record my food that way.
I realised that its much harder to stick to previous plans now that I’m no longer single because I want to eat a variety of foods with the girlfriend.
So I struggled the old way, got fed up and thought I’d try a new way.
I set my macro goals to where I’d normally have them and have found it easy to track.
Its a bit of pain to have to log the foods every time BUT the flexibility is worth the small inconvenience of it.
Right now, I’m looking at fat-loss, and running this up to halloween as I have a gig that night and want to be slightly less of a wobbly Matt for the photos.
Heres the previous three weeks pics:

The last pic is the most recent – and in a costa toilet as I’m not at home at the moment.
And also, the last pic is the morning after a splurge on beer, chicken nuggets, hash browns, pizza and cookies – deffo not my normal choices in food right now and WAY OVER my limits too.
(But it was a fun night!)
We’ll see how I’m doing next week in the pics.
I can see the progress visibly on myself though, with being able to see the fibres under my skin more, so I feel the pics aren’t doing me much justice right now haha.
Its quite nice to see some chest fibres too as I’ve never had a built chest – I’m really shoulder dominant.
So the extra care I’ve been taking to make sure I isolate the chest feels like its paying off.
I’ve still got 7 full weeks to go so I’m going to persist.
I’m hopeful.
Thoughts On The Future
I’m a bit torn on what to do after the Halloween gig.
I’m going to take 2 weeks at a more relaxed pace to recover a bit. ut then I’m not sure if I’m going to go for another fat-loss stint or not.
I have toyed with the idea of starting a long-term bulk for the next year to see if I can pack on a little mass.
Obviously, I’d like to not lose the aspects that matter more to me – like skills fluidity, explosiveness, etc.
But if theres a way of maintaining those AND pack a little more onto my frame, then that’d be cool.
Again, I’m unsure and will decide in future based on the current outcomes but its worth noting that I’m currently open to the idea.
Also, I’m thinking of adding in some grip training too – I went climbing with the GF this past week and my grip for the small holds isn’t great so part of me wants to incorporate that.
I love climbing and seem to have a good instinct to it but my grip on the small holds suck!!
The Future Of The Blog
This is my current feel of how I’m going to treat this page – more of a diary than anything else.
Somewhere to chuck my diary, my thoughts, my ideas, etc.
If anyone reads it then great.
If not, oh well.
And I’m not going to try and push my help out to anyone
BUT
My offer to help is always going to be there should anyone need it.
Anyways, keep training and I’ll catch up soon!
